Places to stay and visit in the New Forest
Let us know if you have any suggestions! We are always keen to hear about great horse and carriage friendly places.
Carriage House Cottage, East End
Carriage House Cottage is a traditional cottage tucked away on a New Forest small holding which includes the owner’s home, horses, chickens and ducks.
Originally a carriage house, the dog friendly cottage has been converted to provide comfortable family accommodation for up to 6 in two bedrooms with spacious ground floor living. You can also bring your horse on holiday as there is stabling and grazing available within the owners yard which is situated a few metres from the cottage.
Hackney Park, Lymington
Hackney Park is situated in a commanding and tranquil setting, two miles from the village of Sway and two miles from Lymington in an excellent touring and walking area.
It is a delightful residence standing in it’s own grounds adjoining open New Forest heath and superb walks, rides and drives from the property.
High Corner Inn, Linwood, Ringwood
Great food, drink and accommodation in the New Forest.
The High Corner Inn is the best kept secret in The New Forest! We are truly ‘in the middle of nowhere’ down a gravel track where you will experience the beautiful New Forest inhabitants.. ponies, deer and a vast array of other birds and animals.
Situated north of Bournemouth and west of Southampton, 6 miles from the market town of Ringwood surrounded by many local attractions that you may wish to visit.
Royal Oak Pub, Fritham, Lyndhurst
The Royal Oak is a free house which dates back to the 1600s. It is a quaint thatched cottage with 19th-century red-brick additions. The pub has diminutive dimensions and consists of three small rooms with low-beamed ceilings which are are light and airy. Cyclists and dog walkers are welcome. We have a large the beer garden overlooking beautiful countryside.
The Foresters Arm, Frogham
Known locally as the donkey pub, The Foresters Arms in Frogham has always been a New Forest favourite. But recently it’s been spruced up, given a stylish, rustic and rather chic update, and painted muted shades of dappled woodland greens.
The look is comfortably eclectic – a mix of tartan and exposed brickwork, antlers and lampstands, in-vogue character cushions of Geisha faces and traditional pews, old pine tables and auction finds. Think it sounds dandy-meets-country? Well, it is!
